In 2021, the Municipality of Lublin started the implementation of a 4-year international project entitled "MOVE IT like Lublin - a Chisinau public transport sustainable development initiative".

The project is implemented in cooperation with the City of Chisinau in Moldova, to be also the Project Leader. The total value of the project is EUR 3.5 million, and the European Commission co-finances 95% of eligible expenditure. Project Leader provides its own contribution and Municipality of Lublin - Project Partner - does not incur any costs. At the same time, the project budget assumes funds exclusively for the task implementation for the benefit of City of Lublin - in the amount of approx. 400,000 Euro.

The project is financed under the Local Authorities: Partnerships for Sustainable Cities 2020 programme.

The aim of the project is to reform the public transport management system in Chisinau, including:

1. Improving political dialogue between central offices and local authorities.
2. Strengthening the competences of the local government in managing subordinate units in accordance with EU standards.
3. Increasing the transparency of public transport through the use of modern IT and technological solutions and increasing the competence of staff of public transport sector in Chisinau.

The main task of the Lublin Municipality is to provide substantive support to the city of Chisinau, transferring good experiences in the form of training and consultations regarding modern solutions implementation in public transport.
Activities of Lublin Municipality as Direct Beneficiary are:
1.    Participation in study visits to European cities that implement a modern transport policy (proposed cities are Prague and Amsterdam/Utrecht).
2.    Participation in international communication fairs in Kielce and Brussels in order to get acquainted with the latest technical solutions in public transport.
3.    Conducting costly marketing research on public transport without involving the budgetary resources of the Municipality of Lublin.
As part of the project, the European Week of Sustainable Transport 2021 was also organized in Lublin. City of Lublin hosted a delegation from Chisinau, and next year the partner - Chisinau will organize this event. In 2022, a thematic panel devoted to urban public transport will be held as part of  Cross-Border Cooperation Congress in Lublin.
The participation of City of Lublin in the project is an opportunity to gain valuable experience in an international project under the direct supervision of the European Commission and the international promotion of Lublin and Lublin's solutions in the area of urban public transport.
